The Perfect Activity for warm summer evenings
It takes place for the 24th time already – the film festival on Vienna’s City Hall Square (Rathausplatz). On a 300 sq.m. screen visitors can watch wonderful and internationally renowned opera, ballet and concert productions while enjoying culinary highlights from around the globe. The entrance to the screening is free and there is plenty of space in front of the screen where people can sit comfortably. Every year the festival attracts millions of visitors and is a great opportunity to enjoy classical music in Vienna even if the Vienna State Opera is closed for the summer.

This year’s celebrations honor the birthdays of Gluck and Richard Strauss. The festival was opened with the screening of a legendary Falco concert on 28th of June. The culinary delights originate from many different countries in the world and give the visitor the opportunity to enjoy some delicious food with great classical music in the background. Thus, the Rathauspark (the park in front of the City Hall) provides space for sitting outside as well. In case of a summer shower people can find shelter under a sail which is spread across the Rathausplatz.
